Displaced Body: Marguerite and I

Marguerite is a little porcelain doll's head, German, late 18th century. I found her at Spitalfield's Market in London. She is my alter ego. She is on a quest to find her body. I photograph Marguerite using a vintage Vidicon lens and combine drawing, found objects and painting to create a variety of environments. Her absent body suggests both displacement and the empathy of the body with the materials of the world. Extended physiological proprioception and mirror neurones allow us to become the world and the world becomes us.
